The Loop – Artists Olivier Girouard, Jonathan Villeneuve and Ottoblix
This illuminated musical installation, featuring a distinctive retro-futuristic look, uses cylinders two metres in diameter. Members of the public are invited to sit down inside and activate the mechanism, causing beautiful images inspired by 13 fairy tales to come to life. On display from November 30,2018 to January 3, 2019. The Loop is inspired by the zoetrope, an optical toy invented in the 19th century. Loop is a cross between a music box, a zoetrope and a railway handcar.
Flower from the Universe – Artist Titia EX
A light flower, with a heart, modelled after a brain cell, encircled by graceful stems. Visitors walk around the artwork. Guests set off a wave of moving colours. The flower itself records the colours surrounding it and transfers these to the ‘petals’. On the edges of the petals the reflected colours gradually run into one another. In contrast a dynamic interplay is created with both the viewer and the surroundings influencing the flower. Titia Ex is an artist whose ideas are shaped by the experience of space.
Infinite Support – Artist Lightform
Visitors will see two drop shaped objects who need each other to stay upright. If guests come even closer, the sculpture, that can be touched, turns out to contain mirrors. The art is suggesting an unfathomable depth. Infinite Support is a project created by four sworn friends, focusing on finding exiting applications of new technologies. LightForm is a Dutch collective consisting of Daniel Thomassen, Raoul van der Ploeg, Dorus van Lieshout and Ivar Posthumus.
Lightpiano 2.0 – Artist Kleurbleur
Inspired by the question “How can music and image become one?” the LightPiano 2.0 is created. It is both an artwork and an instrument. The cubes placed in this spatial composition are connected to the keys of the piano. By playing the piano, music and light are created simultaneously and the sound of the piano is being visualized. This artwork allows the audience not only to play the piano but also to play the light. The result is a special kind of instrument that resonates with both ears, eyes and heart. Don’t hesitate and play!
Open Lounge – Artist Geraud Periole
Open Lounge is like magic, we imagine ourselves in a ballroom of a palace with the starry sky as ceiling and everybody is invited, and that’s exactly the idea behind this project. Each chandelier is handcrafted by the artist and can be hung in different setups. About Geraud Periole – For more than 20 years, Géraud Périole has been working as a light designer. Périole understands how best to illuminate historical buildings, monuments and public spaces.
Impulse – Artist Lateral Office and CS Design
The installation of Impulse is an interactive work comprising a series of 15 seesaws with light and sound that changes when in motion. The seesaws form units of light and sound that can be activated by the public to create an ever-changing composition. By playing on the seesaws, you create a dynamic light and sound wave giving a pulse of warmth to the winter’s short days and dark nights. Fifteen illuminated seesaws that when put into motion by people the lights will increase in intensity and sounds will be emitted.
